This project was started by Zondelia Lombard-Swartz in 2014 while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She sourced toiletries lovingly donated by friends and family, packaged it in pink boxes and bags and distributed it to breast cancer patients at Tygerberg Hospital. In celebrating the 6th year of this project, and in memory of Zonny who lost her fight to breast cancer on 8/09/2019, we would like to call on your support to enable us to extend the distribution of love boxes to include breast cancer patients at both Tygerberg & Paarl Hospitals
This year we’re doing things a bit differently …
In Zonny’s memory:
We will be donating Love Boxes to the breast cancer clinic and wards at Tygerberg Hospital & Paarl Hospital. We are hosting a range of virtual events to raise funds for the Tygerberg Hospital Breast Cancer Clinic & Cancer Ward
Our Ambassador is
Nicolene Van Niekerk. Here is her story:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month! I am running the Cape Town Virtual Half Marathon in honour of all the men and women fighting the war against cancer. A close friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014 and had to undergo a mastectomy – she battled and beat cancer! In 2020 breast cancer was detected in a male family member – he battled cancer and won the fight! Men carry a higher mortality than women do, primarily because awareness among men is less and they are less likely to assume a lump is breast cancer, which can cause a delay in seeking treatment. Cancer CAN be beaten, and I would like to make a difference however small and contribute towards the Tygerberg Hospital Breast Cancer Clinic. Please support me on my 21.1km journey to raise funds for this cause!
