October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Zonny’s Love Box – Elwyn Hansby-Consul

This project was started by Zondelia Lombard-Swartz in 2014 while she was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She sourced toiletries lovingly donated by friends and family, packaged it in pink boxes and bags and distributed it to breast cancer patients at Tygerberg Hospital. In celebrating the 6th year of this project, and in memory of Zonny who lost her fight to breast cancer on 8/09/2019, we would like to call on your support to enable us to extend the distribution of love boxes to include breast cancer patients at both Tygerberg & Paarl Hospitals

This year we’re doing things a bit differently …

In Zonny’s memory:

We will be donating Love Boxes to the breast cancer clinic and wards at Tygerberg Hospital & Paarl Hospital. We are hosting a range of virtual events to raise funds for the Tygerberg Hospital Breast Cancer Clinic & Cancer Ward

Our Ambassador is Elwyn Hansby-Consul. Here is her story:

My beautiful friend Zonny was a warrior in her 6-year battle against breast cancer which she lost on 8 September 2019.I walked this 6-year long journey with her.. we entered many 5km walks during this time too – cancer or no cancer – chemo or no chemo. Exercise was never one of my priorities. I detested walking. In fact, most of the walks we did she spent encouraging me most of the way. But here I am, 1 year since her passing – and I’ll be walking / running 50km between 1 – 18 October to raise funds for Tygerberg Breast Cancer Clinic in her memory.
